Precollege Residential Assistant

Enthusiastic and responsible UCLA undergrads wanted! UCLA Summer Sessions is hiring Precollege Residential Assistants (PRAs) to provide a safe, fun environment by supervising high school students in the Summer College Immersion Program (SCIP) for Summer 2024.

PRAs work up to 19 hours per week which pairs well with taking a Summer Session A6 course. Zoom trainings for selected applicants will begin the week of June 10; expect to work 4-8 hours in the two weeks prior to the start of summer. 

Applicants must submit ALL of the following requirements:

There are three position types we are hiring for within the same PRA interview process and we are planning to hire about 15 Residential Staff total (10 PRAs, 3 Lead PRAs, and 2 SCIP Interns). The Google Form will ask which position you are most interested in including the following:

Precollege Residential Assistant (PRA) $20/hr

  • Assists with residential check-in (6/23) and check-out (8/3)
  • Performs nightly curfew checks and occasional wellness checks
  • Responds to student conflicts or incident reports
  • Leads fun cohort bonding activities

Lead Precollege Residential Assistant (Lead PRA) $21/hr

  • All duties from the PRA position
  • Acts as supervisors to the PRAs
  • Coordinates shift/scheduling changes
  • Main point of contact for escalated conflicts and/or emergencies

Summer College Immersion Program (SCIP) Intern $21/hr

  • All duties from the Lead PRA position
  • Oversees SCIP students in a more academic setting
  • Assistance in attendance, check-ins, and projects

Benefits:

  • FREE meals in the dining halls (two meals a day)
  • Salary: $20 - $21 per hour (varies by position)

Must be available to live in the UCLA Residence Hall full-time for six weeks from June 23 – August 3. Residence Hall assignment will be shared closer to summer. Experience with high school students is highly encouraged, but not required to apply.

Notes: 

  • If you are a Spring 2024 graduating senior, you are only eligible if your Degree Expected/Candidacy Term is Summer 2024, but do not need to enroll in a course.
  • We are unable to offer Spring to Summer stay through in the dorm, please arrange your own housing accommodations or extend your contract with UCLA Housing.
  • This position is with UCLA Summer Sessions, not the Office of Residential Life.
